COMMISSION your own Work of Art
“Collaborating with Paul on three commission projects has been a fantastic experience. The students had the chance to see music being created in front of their very eyes. I'd heartily recommend working with him.”
Seth McMullen; Director of Choirs, Eagle High School, Eagle, Idaho
“We commissioned Paul in 2008 to write a piece. Little did we know it would take us to Carnegie Hall!”
Dr. James Jirak, Artistic Director;
Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale
"After hearing Paul's works at NWACDA in 2016, it's apparent the Mastersingers must commission a work for 2017."
Justin Raffa; Artistic Director,
Mid-Columbia Mastersingers
“Paul was attentive to the needs of our church musicians and congregation’s mission when composing. He perfectly captured the heart of our church both in text and melody. We couldn’t be happier with the final product. What a gift it was to celebrate our 75th Anniversary. “
Karen Eisele; Director of Worship & Arts,
Old Mission United Methodist Church
Getting Started!
Thank you for thinking of me in connection with commissioning a new musical work. I sincerely appreciate the confidence which your decision to contact me demonstrates. Here is how the process works:
-
Contact me by email or phone expressing interest.
-
We will come to a verbal agreement regarding your vision for the piece, my fee. Once we have achieved a verbal agreement, I will send you a formal contract.
-
Once I receive the signed contract and the first half of the fee, I will begin to make final decisions about text and begin to write.
-
You will have the right to be named in the score as the commissioning agent for this work. Typically this consists of a small acknowledgment printed above the title on the first page of the score. This would apply to both your performance score(s) and to any and all published editions, should the work eventually be published.
-
In addition, I am happy to make myself available during the period of my visit for any activities which you feel would be helpful in either promoting the work or strengthening your program. Typically such activities have included: masterclasses in composition, talking to music classes on local college and university campuses, working with high school students, speaking with church groups, and holding interviews with the media.

Let's begin creating a new artpiece together!
